I'm Dr Tamar awful Doctor of Pharmacy and Nutritional Genomics Specialist, and if you've been following us on the podcast for the past four days, you know that we have switched things up for a 10-day challenge, the Elite Health Reset Challenge and today is day five and I have a story and a lesson for you before we step into our next layer of the Elite Health Reset.

You know, I want to take you back to a time when I believed that being busy was an unbeatable badge of honor, like if I wasn't busy then I wasn't doing anything, that what I was doing wasn't worth it.

This really was back when I was a PGY1 pharmacy resident, a postgraduate year one pharmacy resident, juggling between patient care, research and trying to squeeze in a personal life.

It was one of those high octane days patients to work up vancomycin doses, to adjust journal clubs to attend and I was in the thick of it.

Halfway through the day I realized I hadn't taken a single break, not even to stretch.

I remember reaching out to grab a pen off my desk and I felt this sharp twinge in my neck.

I ignored it because it seemed like the best option at the time.

Well, that twinge in my neck turned into a throbbing pain that radiated all the way to my shoulder, making even the simplest task difficult.

It was actually my body staging a protest demanding attention that I refused to give it, and it actually went on for days.

I started integrating small stretches, especially neck and shoulder movements, into my routine.

Because if there's anything my experience taught me, it's that we often overlook the basic needs of our bodies until it's too late.
